I'm getting alliterative: the previos was with Bs, now it's with Ws. Wild Warped Web. too precious. But those titles seem to hook more readers, so I"ll keep doing it.
As an educator I really am a dedicated constructivist and I like what those folks are calling connectivism.
I know that the bloggers I quote will at least see what I'm saying, once.

yeah, but if that choir gets big enough, it gets noticed by others outside of the church, right? I'm not Mormon, but I've heard of the Tabernacle Chorus...
Thanks for the comments, Mark.
It's criminal how curricula and instruction have been mangled by a very narrow and misguided interpretation of accountability. The arts have been squeezed out of most schools and focusing on a high-stakes test, with a concurrent narrowing of instruction to prepare for the test, has sucked the life out of public education.
Many children thrive and learn through music, painting and theater. We can't transmit the deeper values of culture and history without the arts.
An ideal educational system must be rich with the fine arts, and teachers that are competent, rigorous and creative in the teaching of the arts.
I'm preaching to the choir, no?
Great entry...I followed down the rabbit hole of information and links.

As a theater artist, I have seen the decimation of arts education in our schools in so many different ways--the arts are almost always the first programs cut in a budget crunch. Which is something I find ironic--if the arts teach *anything*, they teach one to be a creative problem-solver, use very few resources and discipline to work a problem thru to resolution.

You piqued my interest now, and I'm curious as to how you envision our educational system being reshaped.
